Q - So, what makes The Lake Effect series special?
A - It's actually a mix of things. When I chose to write these books, I wanted to create a diverse story that reminded me of the kind of books I like to read. My top picks are usually romantic comedy novels, any of the thousands of humor and entertainment best sellers, and, of course, books featuring serious topics with a dash of humor. Basically, anything with a comedic attitude and a fast-paced style gets my click.
The Lake Effect Series books are a great mix of these genres. You'll find the series focuses on the humor and entertainment / romantic comedy genre overall, with a pinch of women's fiction thrown in for good measure, a strong lesbian fiction story line, and a humorous take onparenting and families to keep things interesting!
Overall, The Lake Effect series is designed with short, punchy chapters to keep you turning the pages - and I've made sure you'll want to know what happens next.

I was taken on so many twists and turns through out this book, as well as the other two, that I didn't want it to come to an end. The Hutchinson sisters are two of my favorite characters now out of all the books I've read (I'm an avid reader - 5 books or more a month). What a great way to end a superb series featuring💕 romance and 👭sisterly devotion! This series is chock full of wry humor, angst, romance, passion, a bit of heartbreak and self discovery. Sisters Gwenn and Rachel are each other's confidante and best friend through thick and thin, and this last book in the series features some MAJOR drama!
Author Rue has lovingly painted a picture of flawed individuals, from Shirley, their judgmental mother, to Greta, a lovely surprise addition to the family, and, of course, the girls and their love interests. Rock legend and fellow Minnesotan Prince even makes a surprise appearance. And, through it all, Rachel plans her dream💐 wedding to rocker Annie and Gwenn must face some dark, buried truths before deciding if either of the men in her life is what she wants. Their unresolved issues with parents Shirley and Pastor Ed come to a head and Rue builds in lots of great surprise twists that made this one of the best stories I have read this year.
I do wish there had been a bit more elaboration on the turn in Gwenn's life at the book's end, but nevertheless this was a terrific, well-written story with lots of heart and complex characters. And all the drama kept me wondering at the end of each chapter "what new twist is waiting for these two?" I will not soon forget the image of Rachel, face covered in sugar and cheeks stuffed with demon donuts!! I heartily recommend this novel and hope that Rue will write more in the same vein.

This was such a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy!!! Gwenn and Rachel have been through it, and of course it's family that did it to them. How great it was that family also helped them heal and find joy and love. -)
Well worth the wait! Finally read the last book of the trilogy and was thrilled with the wrap up of my "favorite" characters. Without posting a spoiler alert, I was quite satisfied with the fate of all and enjoyed every twist and turn to the end. Looking forward to a new series by this clever and entertaining author.
I loved this trilogy in general. I'm sad that I'm done with it. I would love it if you brought the sisters back for more books
I have read all three of the books in this series. I loved the way the sisters related to each other. Loved the way the last book ended. Will look for more books by this author.
